Silky Terrier

The Silky Terrier is a charming little breed that brings a delightful sparkle to any home. Originating in Australia, these small yet sturdy dogs were bred to hunt and control pests, but they have since won hearts as affectionate companions. Their glossy, silky coats are a testament to their name and require regular grooming, ideally on a weekly basis, to keep them looking their best. While they do shed moderately, their small size can make them suitable for apartment living, making them an excellent choice for city dwellers in Petland Ashland, Kentucky.

Silkies are known for their vibrant and playful personalities, exuding a mix of confidence and affection that makes them great family pets. They thrive on companionship and enjoy engaging with their families, showing a special fondness for children, though they may require some supervision around younger kids. Their friendly demeanor extends to other dogs, but they may be a bit less tolerant of cats. With a barking tendency that is above average, they can alert you to any potential visitors, making them good watchdogs as well.

Despite their feisty spirit, Silky Terriers have a moderate energy level that balances well with playtime and cuddling sessions on the couch. They enjoy daily walks and spirited games of fetch, helping to keep them mentally and physically stimulated. Thanks to their intelligence, they are quite trainable, responding well to positive reinforcement and consistent training practices. This mix of energy and trainability makes them a delightful addition to a playful household eager to provide love and companionship. Prepare to welcome a loyal, loving friend who is as spirited as they are sweet.
