These medium-sized dogs are bursting with energy and require regular exercise to keep them happy and healthy. Daily walks, playtime in the yard, or fun outings will typically satisfy their zest for activity. While they are not the best fit for apartment living due to their energy levels and need for space, they thrive in family homes where they can be included in everyday activities and adventures. Their affectionate nature means that they are always looking to bond with their human companions, making them a delightful addition to any household.

Grooming is manageable with this breed, as they require weekly brushing to keep their coat in top condition and to help control shedding, which can be moderate. Their intelligence and eagerness to learn make training a relatively smooth process, as they respond well to positive reinforcement techniques. However, as with many breeds, consistent training from an early age can help manage their natural enthusiasm and tendency to bark, ensuring they grow into well-mannered family members. If you are considering adding this lovable breed to your family, be prepared for a lifetime of loyalty and companionship from your English Springer Spaniel.
