We carefully partner with breeders. These breeders have been recognized for going above and beyond federal requirements in their commitment to responsible, ethical, and nurturing practices. Many of whom are Canine Care Certified (CCC) through Purdue University. These breeders adhere to independently developed, and science-based standards for animal care. Enhanced CCC breeding standards prioritize the health, socialization, and overall well-being of puppies and their parents. By sourcing from these dedicated and highly responsible breeders, Petland ensures every puppy receives exceptional veterinary care. They also receive regular health screenings and positive social experiences from the very beginning of life Our commitment to ethical breeding means that when you choose a puppy from Petland Ashland, you’re choosing a pet store that values transparency, responsible practices, and lifelong support for you and your new, furry family member. We believe every puppy deserves the best start in life, and we’re proud to help make that happen. For more information about Purdue University’s Canine Care Certified program and its Five Pillars of Care, visit [https://vet.purdue.edu/ccc/consumers.php](https://vet.purdue.edu/ccc/consumers.php) ### Science-Based Canine Care Standards Petland selects breeders who follow standards designed with animal welfare science at the core. These guidelines go beyond the basics. They emphasize health, behavior, and ethical practices to give every puppy the best start in life. These exceptional breeders address key areas including nutrition, veterinary care, safe housing, exercise, and behavioral enrichment for dogs and puppies. Breeders who follow these principles put responsible breeding first, helping to ensure puppies are healthy, well-adjusted, and ready to thrive in their forever homes. When you choose a breeder who follows these standards, you can feel confident that your puppy and its parents come from a place of true care and compassion. ![Image](https://www.petlandashland.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/AdobeStock_631893265-1-scaled.jpeg) ## Why families choose Petland Ashland, Kentucky -
